The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) recently donated 40 computers and 20 monitors and other ancillary equipment to the People’s Emergency Center of Philadelphia.
In an effort to help those in need, PIDC donates older, usable computers and equipment to nonprofit, civic, and educational organizations that serve underprivileged communities in the City of Philadelphia. In past years, recipients of the equipment have been the KidZone in North Philadelphia, several Philadelphia Charter Schools and the Philadelphia Department of Recreation.
This year the equipment will be going to the Digital Inclusion Program of the People’s Emergency Center (PEC) in West Philadelphia. In addition to computer training, the PEC will improve the equipment and make it available to families in need. For more information, please visit the People’s Emergency Center website at www.pec-cares.org.
People’s Emergency Center helps homeless families through a comprehensive approach and is recognized nationally as a best practice. The families who turn to PEC for help achieve stability through shelters and housing, as well as on- site counseling, employment, parenting and children’s programs. PEC’s programs and services form the foundation of their work in pursuing sound public policy.
