Fresh Grocer opening store near Temple U. in North Philadelphia

Fresh Grocer will open a new store this Friday at Progress Plaza on Broad Street in North Philadelphia.

The private Drexel Hill, Pa., company opened another store on Chew Avenue in Northwest Philadelphia four months ago. With the addition of the one on Broad, the company now has 10 stores and the two combined created more than 500 jobs.

The new store will total 46,000 square feet and be on Broad between Oxford and Jefferson streets near Temple University. The last grocery store to operate in Progress Plaza closed in the 1990s. The Fresh Grocer at Progress Plaza was financed in part by federal, state and city funding, including Pennsylvania’s Fresh Food Financing Initiative, a community revitalization program that increases the number of supermarkets in underserved communities across the state.

PIDC was proud to assist in the financing of the Fresh Grocer at Progress Plaza.
