PIDC manages a full range of real estate activity through its Real Estate Group, including: land sales, property acquisitions, real estate development, infrastructure development and operations, property management, planning, project management and leasing. PIDC manages real estate activity for its own account, for the Philadelphia Authority for Industrial Development, the City of Philadelphia and its agencies and for select non-profit organizations.
PIDC's real estate activity can be summarized into the following areas:
- Industrial Land Management
Since its inception, PIDC has managed the City's industrial land inventory, acquiring, improving and selling more than 2,800 acres of land in 18 industrial parks throughout the city. PIDC is currently actively managing 300 acres of available land in 9 industrial parks throughout the city. In addition, PIDC has a variety of industrial opportunities at The Navy Yard, including existing buildings and build-to-suit sites for development.

PIDC manages the redevelopment of key parcels and buildings owned by the City of Philadlephia, including the sale and redevelopment of excess City-owned assets and strategic development opportunities where the City has an important ownership or economic development interest. This activity often involves managing a public developer solicitation process, negotiating transaction terms and documents and managing project implementation where appropriate.

PIDC's Real Estate Group is responsible for The Navy Yard, a 1,200-acre mixed-use property located on the site of the former Philadelphia Naval Shipyard complex. The Navy Yard currently includes more than 5.5 million square feet of occupied space, with more than 8,000 employees and a roster of businesses that includes more than 115 private companies and three operating entities of the U.S. Navy. All totaled, The Navy Yard complex will have a capacity for more than 12 million square feet of development. In its master developer role, PIDC's Real Estate Group manages all aspects of the property's management and development, including master planning, leasing, property management, infrastructure development, utility operation and structuring development transactions.
